Our History

History almost always starts with somebody’s dream. The history of “9 8 9 The Vine” is no exception. It all started out with about 60 people in a band of believers that became known
as Calvary Chapel Zanesville it was the year, 2003 they dreamed of having a radio station to broadcast Gods’ word in Teaching, Talk and Music.

February 16, 2005 the FCC Granted them a permit to construct a radio station. That dream was realized Feb. 27, 2007 when WTLL-LP Signed on the Air as “98.9 The Vine” There were some ups and some downs, they broadcast Gods’ Word continuously for over 10 years, Dec. 17, 2017 Calvary Chapel Closed its doors. Three men stepped up and operated The Vine through the end of December of that year.

January 1, 2018 an Ohio Corporation (501(c)3) known as In HIS Service, Inc. assumed the operation of WTLL-LP at that time the board consisted of: Farris W. Wilhite, Harold Angles and Tom Gill. We operated in the old building which was where stayed for the time, but, the rent was too much for us to keep up with, Sept. 1st 2019 we went off the air, made arrangements to pay off the rent and started looking for a new home for “989 The Vine”. We now have our Antenna and Transmitter still downtown and our studios and offices are located at 2103 Maple Avenue Suite 103 in Zanesville, Ohio. (Next to Williamson Insurance)

The Board now consists of, Farris W. Wilhite, Harold Angles, Tom Gill, Jeff Williamson and George Bates.
